Aon to Sell NFP Wealth Business Back to Madison Dearborn for $2.7B
Insurance broker Aon is in advanced talks to sell its NFP wealth management unit back to private equity firm Madison Dearborn for approximately $2.7 billion. The deal marks a reversal of Aon's $13 billion acquisition of NFP just a year ago. NFP's subsidiaries, including Wealthspire Advisors and Fiducient Advisors, manage around $60 billion in client assets and advise on an additional $500 billion.
Aon's shares dipped slightly in pre-market trading following the report. The company plans to retain its Core wealth consulting business while divesting non-core assets to focus on artificial intelligence and its primary operations in insurance, HR advisory, and health brokerage.
